Gond Wana coal fields :
1) Older - 250 million years old .
2) Low percentage of moisture .
3) Contains sulphur and phosphorus in small quantity .
4) High carbon content .
5) Mainly bituminous .
whereas
Tertiary coal fields :
1) Younger - 15 to 60 million years old .
2) High percentage of moisture .
3) Contains large amount of sulphur & phosphorous .
4) Low carbon content .
5) Mainly peat & lignite .
